Bridal Showers (continued)

9 May

This weekend was my friend Jane’s Bridal Shower.  As a bridesmaid in her wedding I was part of the planning process, so it was great to see everything come together after a few months of planning.  We had some last minute changes but all in all I think the shower was a success!

In my last post I was discussing how things do not always go as planned you just have to make due with what you can.  Perfect example would be our attempt at DIY favors.  We managed to keep the favor a DIY project, but our original idea was an epic fail…Behold, our attempt to bake crab shaped sugar cookies!

It was a disaster!  But we did manage to make a few good ones which made their appearance at the shower, along with our oh so cute cupcakes that we baked for dessert!

So to replace our cute crabs we decided to make chocolate covered pretzel rods using a chocolate flower mold and colored chocolate.  Another bridesmaid made thank you tags using a paper punch, thank you stamp, and yellow polka dot ribbon.  I thought they turned out really well!

We had a ton of food and pulled together some last minute decorations including a handmade “bride-to-be” sign, courtesy of Katie (the same bridesmaid who made the thank you tags, she is so crafty!).  My mom also made the tissue paper pom-poms you can see hanging here.  These poms are becoming so popular, as they deserve, look how cute!

Not all of the guests had arrived when I took this pic, so it doesn’t look like much, but the bride did receive a ton of great gifts!  And of course in true Bridal Shower tradition, the bow hat 🙂

I hope Jane had a great day and felt showered with love 🙂  Only 68 more days until she says “I DO” and we are all so excited and happy for her!
